What does the term Bed and Breakfast mean to you? If it evokes a pleasurable and pampered stay at a large old home with character, followed by a home-cooked morning meal, then an overnight or weekend stay on Long Island�s North Fork could be in your near future. These are not inexpensive junkets to these B & Bs, but then your room won�t look like one at the Holiday Inn either. Furnishings and d�cor vary widely- phone ahead lest you book a B & B furnished in Danish modern when Victorian d�cor is more to your liking.

Usually the Bed & Breakfast Inn�s proprietors will be glad to recommend an itinerary for you- brochures of local attractions, restaurants, wineries, farm stands usually are available. B & Bs are often within a short walk or bike ride to the beach- bayside or oceanfront. Business travelers do not generally patronize the B & B. Couples and singles seeking a quiet place with old-fashioned amenities including personal attention generally book B & Bs. In other words, do not expect TVs and computers in your room.

As you might expect, B & Bs abound from Aquebogue to Orient . Rates vary widely, but most B & Bs have websites with rates clearly posted. Do your homework before you book your room and you will not be disappointed.
