Whether you are visiting for the weekend, on a vacation or making the most of a timeshare, few come to Long Island’s East End without packing a bathing suit. Pools abound, but how can you justify their use when the South Fork is home to some of the world’s best bathing beaches? But before you jump in your car and head for the sand bar in the Hamptons nearest you, check the list below to see which require permits and which are public- for a fee. And for those renting for the summer season, check with your landlord, first who may already have a town beach permit.

Long Island Beaches
Long Island is home to almost 100 miles of beautiful white sand beaches. They are situated on the barrier islands of the South Shore which face the Atlantic Ocean. Their beauty lies in the dunes and grasses which add to the attraction of these beaches. The North Shore beaches face Long Island Sound and have a different texture. They are rockier but also provide calmer waters for swimming. The Long Island beaches are famous and are not to be missed when visiting. Click here for a Tide Table.
